The Ash Storm:

Upon encountering God Eaters the first time in a mission. Ash storm Anubis will Summon an Ash Storm that affects the entire battlefield and does the following:

  • Greatly increases Aragami defence, essentially removing any weak-points on aragami, even if their bonds are broken. This does not affect elemental weaknesses.
  • Drain the HP of all God Eaters at a steady rate (1 HP per second).
  • Adds a visual effect of Blue Flames on the corners of the screen, slightly obscuring the players vision.
  • The audio becomes less evident as your avatars, NPCs and the Aragami become less audible.
  • Ash Storm Anubis' left eye will emit blue flames.

This can easily be dispelled with an Anti Ash Storm Bomb used as soon as the storm starts

Blade Attacking Tips:

Short Blade

  • A relatively fast weapon built for mobility against Ash Storm Anubis as fighting it will require speed as it is fast for its size. As its body is defensive against any attack type, it will be tough to deal damage reliably. Focus on hitting its head as it is the easiest part to break and will provide you with a weakspot to damage it reliably.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Dead End is a very useful pick for bypassing Ash Storm Anubis’ heavy defenses, making bond breaks much easier with it.
  • Burst Arts with downed damage bonus such as Scorpion, Lightning Scourge and Stinging Flare works well in speeding up the process in bond breaking, as well as dealing great amounts of damage when hitting Ash Storm Anubis’ broken bonds.
  • Gale Dance is a simple yet powerful Burst Art to be used as its full combo damage can be deadly when hitting Ash Storm Anubis’ broken bonds.
  • Rampaging Comet can decimate Ash Storm Anubis once one of its bonds is broken.
  • Schwalbe, Licht Kreuz and Whirling Death are mobility options to deal with Ash Storm Anubis’ movements, especially when it’s enraged.
  • Specht and Lightning Scourge both provide additional damage bonuses with freeze weapons and the latter also deals additional damage when Ash storm Anubis is downed. These two are also some of the best options if you wish to fight Ash Storm Anubis in the Ash Storm for whatever reason.

Long Blade

  • With Long Blade being able to deal slash and oracle crush damage from Impulse Edge, Long Blade users have two different approaches in dealing with Ash Storm Anubis. Either break the forearms if you want to damage it more reliably with impulse edge or its head when you rely mostly on slash based damage. Both ways can end up well as the head and forearms are weakspots to slash and oracle crush although different parts have different defensive values even if they are broken. Since both parts are armored when intact, try focusing only one breakable part if you want to finish the battle at the fastest possible time. Long Blade is also a great weapon for balanced stats as well as its easy usage.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Morning Calm and Whirlwind Sword are a gunner’s best picks as they can absorb OP really quickly. The latter Burst Art can be paired with any Impulse Edge Burst Arts to make their usage more efficient.
  • Swift Slash can be effective against Ash Storm Anubis when one of its bonds is broken. It can be used against some of its attacks that leave it wide open at close range.
  • Flame of Purgatory can boost the process in breaking bonds, as well as making a short work of Ash Storm Anubis when it’s downed.
  • Soulsplitter works very well against Ash Storm Anubis as its armor piercing aids a lot in breaking its bonds. Note that using shields of the lowest ranks is the most effective approach to using this Burst Art and also keep an eye of your health bar.
  • Void Cutter is a great choice against Ash Storm Anubis due to its armor piercing bonus.
  • Sacred Edge with a freeze Long Blade or the Raging Blizzard Engage can be effective against Burst Ash Storm Anubis, especially when it connects to its core.
  • Spinning Descent and Flashing Blade are mobility options that can close in the distance between yourself and Ash Storm Anubis as well as dealing great amounts of damage once hitting its broken parts.
  • Apsara Wings is an excellent option to be paired with the aerial Burst Arts as it deals great damage and gives you an easy positioning for aerial attacks.

Buster Blade

  • Parries will be one of the useful assets in the battle with Ash Storm Anubis as it serves as a safe counterattacking approach to deal damage to it. Using Charge Crush is possible too if you are within its attack proximity, as well as being close enough to it. As its body is heavily armored, it will be tough to deal damage early on. Focus on breaking either its head or forearms as Busters can deal approximately the same amount of damage against said parts when broken.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Anathema’s armor piercing can effectively boost the process in breaking Ash Storm Anubis’ bonds as well as making short work of it from its immense damage output.
  • CC Origin is somewhat a safe option if you want to play Charge Crush as it has extended range to help you hit the intended part you want to hit.
  • Riot Swipe, Deadly Glide and Destruction work well against Ash Storm Anubis once one of its bonds is broken due to their weakpoint bonus damage.
  • Nemesis does a great job in dealing with Ash Storm Anubis’ armored bonds as it pierces armor, making it a great alternative to Anathema if you want to equip another ground Burst Art.
  • Sky Cleaver with a freeze Buster Blade or the Raging Blizzard Engage is a great choice due to its quicker use speed and high damage output.
  • Dividing Edge provides an additional boost in breaking bonds with its downed damage bonus, as well as dealing great amounts of damage to a downed Ash Storm Anubis when hitting its broken bonds.

Charge Spear

  • Ash storm Anubis' increased size makes Charge spears chasing options even better compared to regular Anubis. Aerial burst arts are far less likely to hit the mantle, making Akashic breaker and Valkyrie Glide easier to use when Ash Storm Anubis is not in burst.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Berserk Crush can be used relatively safely on several of Ash Storm Anubis' attacks as long as you know when to defend. Since the tornado attack is restricted to when Ash Storm Anubis is at low HP, it is less of a concern early into the fight.
  • Mocking the Gods is a strong but high risk option for both piercing through the rear legs and dealing large amounts of armour piercing damage from a considerable distance.
  • Brave Soul serves great as an enhanced charge glide for closing distance and reaping bonus elemental damage when used with a Freeze weapon.
  • Spear Requiem and Fallen Tear serve a similar purpose dealing large amounts of damage, especially against a downed Ash Storm Anubis, and setting up fang deployment at close range. Which one you choose is dependent on which charge glide you are willing to replace.
  • Stardust Rain can make a short work of Ash Storm Anubis, mainly when you have Fang Deployment active and when Ash Storm Anubis is downed.
  • Akashic Breaker can be a great chaser on Base Ash Storm Anubis with proper aim but shines against burst Ash Storm Anubis where its change in posture makes hitting vulnerable points much easier. Ash Storm Anubis' increased size reduces the risk of hitting the mantle compared to standard Anubis.
  • Valkyrie Glide can take advantage of Ash Storm Anubis' many weak-points once it's bonds are broken and can easily strike the core when Ash Storm Anubis is in Burst.
  • Double Threat can close in and strike Ash Storm Anubis' broken bonds for bonus Weak point damage with ease.
  • Ground Zero can be a great asset in breaking the Rear Legs thanks to it's armour piercing and downed damage bonus. It can be used to punish against Ash Storm Anubis' charge after a perfect guard.
  • Deathbringer is another great choice for mobility and dealing damage due to its steerable nature. This Burst Art takes a big advantage of Fang Deployment as the charged hits deal huge damage.

Heavy Moon

  • Heavy Moon users benefit more in hitting the forearms and head as it deals more damage when hitting the former part and the latter part breaks more easily. Once one breakable part is broken, focus on the broken part to deal critical damage as the broken head and forearms are weakspots to both slash and crush. There are some attacks where there is a big enough opening to carry out a quick Moon Axe Combo that deals greater damage, such as its fiery wave slam and after it does its continuous slam attack.

Fighting in the Ash Storm:

There is no benefit to leaving the Ash Storm active whatsoever but Ash Storm Anubis can still be defeated without Ash Storm Bombs with proper setup:

  • Venom is a key asset here. Since individual attacks deal so little, fixed damage over time is essential. Tolerance gain is much lower than in previous God Eater games so you can inflict poison on Ash storm Anubis quite frequently with the right setup. There is still a limit but it takes many more inflictions to get there.
  • Mines can be used for additional fixed damage.
  • You can't strike weak-points but Ash Storm Anubis' Freeze weakness is still exploitable so Burst Arts that gain Elemental bonuses are a strong choice.
  • There is a brief window when Ash storm Anubis is summoning the Ash Storm where it still takes normal damage so you can unload all of your strongest bullets at it's head or forearms for a solid chunk of it's HP and bond health.
  • A level 5 G>>HP Healer will actually out-heal the Ash Storm so as long as you can maintain it without taking too much damage, the storm itself won't incapacitate you.
  • Be prepared for a very long fight. As stated above, there is no reason to do this outside of self imposed challenges but it is possible.
