Battle Information

Form Properties:

False Idol has two forms that it can change between, Shield Mode and Attack Mode.
Shield Mode

  • Erects a barrier that is immune to gunfire unless the shield bond is broken
  • Tucks itself into it's shield, making areas other than the shield much harder to hit.
  • Moves incredibly slowly
  • Shield mode can still be entered if the shield is broken but the barrier will not be present
  • Has access to a myriad of defensive attacks at close range.

Attack Mode

  • In this form, False Idol is faster and has access to many long range attacks. However, it's barrier is gone and it's now very weak to gunfire.
  • As it is no longer tucked into the shield, all of the False Idols parts are much more exposed.
  • It will always be in this form when enraged.
Blade Attacking Tips:

Short Blade

  • Aerial maneuverability is where the short blade shines and helps greatly when dealing with attacks such as the laser rain and crystal patches where the safest place to be while maintaining offense can be in the air.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Licht Kreuz and Sylpheed will help in maintaining airtime during many of False Idols attacks.
  • Dead End has armour piercing to deal more damage during shield mode.
  • As False Idol can be quite stationary at times, Scorpion can be landed fairly reliably and can do good damage to downed False Idols
  • Rising shock can be used with a divine weapon for increased elemental damage.
  • Asura Slash can aid in OP absorption if you can take advantage of longer openings.

Long Blade

  • The best option for close range combat with the False Idol. Impulse Edge counts as ranged damage so take advantage of that while False Idol is in attack mode to exploit it's ranged weakness at close range.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Burst arts that amplify Impulse Edge such as Shining ray, Flames of Purgatory or Gunner's paradise.
  • Morning Calm greatly aids in OP absorption on the ground and Whirlwind Sword does the same from a step.
  • Void Cutter's armour piercing can help break through shield mode.
  • Aspara wings allows for easy access to aerial attacks from a step.

Buster Blade

  • Can be difficult to use against False Idols. Primary target should be the center face or the shields with armor piercing burst arts.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Overkill can take advantage of the False Idols slower attacks such as the grounded laser rain for safe charges.
  • Rising Crush makes aiming for the vitality core easier.
  • Jormungandr can take advantage of False Idols long openings to absorb large amounts of OP.
  • Spinning Break is a good step option as it help regain OP faster.
  • Sky Cleaver gives you a damaging aerial option that can be used during the aerial laser rain without risk of plummeting into the lasers below and has additional elemental damage bonus when exploiting False Idol's divine weakness.
  • Nemesis provides armour piercing but should be used with care as to not plummet into projectiles.

Boost Hammer

  • Technically the strongest melee option against False Idols. The center face is more vulnerable to crush than any other melee damage type. It also has an armour piercing burst arts of every type that give users a variety of melee options for softening up the shields.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Doom Hammer can provide great OP absorption on large openings.
  • Unstoppable provide armour piercing to help break the shields faster.
  • Lost Memory's armour piercing can be used as an aerial combo finisher and as fairly fast armour piercing option for the shields.
  • Chaos impact or Stigmata are solid picks for improved aerial combat, with the former dealing more damage and the latter maintaining aerial attacks more easily.
  • Calamity Nova can deal a lot of armour piercing damage on larger openings.
  • Heat Drive is a strong method of closing distance and can deal large amounts of damage to Downed False Idols.
  • God Smasher is options for closing in and deal extra elemental damage when used with a divine weapon.

Charge Spear

  • Provides great mobility but lacks any increased OP absorption burst arts. Shield mode is easy to maintain fang deployment against due to slower movement and attack speed.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Brave Soul and Deadly Blitz with a divine weapon are strong grounded options.
  • Mocking the Gods provide armour piercing from a condiserable distance.
  • Akashic Breaker can quickly close distance but the can be unwieldy as the first hit is always a charge forward. as such it is unsuited to maintaining air time.
  • Deathbringer quickly closes distance on the ground.
  • Ground Zero provides armour piercing from a step that is best used when false Idol is close to the ground.

Variant Scythe

  • Has strong aerial options across all of it's burst arts along with the benefits of Extend Bite for grounded combat.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Mercy Spiral's OP absorption is very fast once you get it going which is easier on False Idol due to it's large openings.
  • Heaven or Hell offers high powered armour piercing that can shred the shields with proper timing and positioning.
  • Fanatic's scythe allows you to reliably maintain airtime while continuously striking at False Idol during it's aerial barrages.
  • Trinity Spin offers increased OP absorption that can be used safely in the air.
  • Hell's Gate with a divine weapon is solid option for closing distance due to it's elemental bonus and leap covering a large distance.
  • Grim reaper lets you enter the air from a step.

Biting Edge

  • Limited range on the ground makes landing attacks slightly more difficult. Thankfully Biting Edge has a lot of strong options in it's burst arts for aiding in aerial combat as well as incredibly strong OP absorption in Halo Assault.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Halo Assault is a great pick for OP Absorption, despite it not working as effectively in terms of damage due to False Idol's melee resistance when the shields are still intact. It can make a short work of False Idol once the shields are broken.
  • Cosmic Bolt can make a short work of False Idol due to its armour piercing capabilities.
  • Petal Frenzy is the best option for Aerial Combat whenever False Idol floats mid-air to perform its laser rain since it keeps Biting Edge users floating in the air with every hit the blades connect.
  • Soaring Sky and Seraphim Edge both allow you to enter the air from different actions, making aerial combat easier.

Heavy Moon

  • Heavy Moons are a great pick for Aerial Combat since the Aerial Burst Art picks are all viable against False Idols. However, they lack viable Ground and Step Burst Arts in comparison to the Aerial ones, making ground combat more restrictive in terms of damage output.

Recommended Burst Arts:

  • Lunar Orbit and Lunatic Force are great options for Aerial combat, with the former dealing great damage to False Idol and the latter having the ability to keep you mid-air for as long as possible while dealing reasonable damage.
  • Twilight Moon is a great choice due to its armor piercing capability.
  • Apocalypse Axe’s downed hits can deal massive damage once False Idol's armor is broken.
  • A Stage 3 Moonlit Dawn can decimate False Idol. However, take note as it takes a long time to charge Moonlit Dawn up to stage 3, making it usable to only some of False Idol's attacks such as its ground laser rain. The HMC 19mm Plugin is a recommended pick for Burst Control Units if Moonlit Dawn is to be used.

Gun Attacking Tips:

General

  • False Idol has the same resistance to Crush and Pierce bullets so it's more a matter of where to aim.
-Aiming for the Shield will prevent the barrier from reforming once it's broken, even if it enters shield mode again. Once it breaks, it becomes the most vulnerable part of the aragami to gunfire.
-Aiming for the Center face will create the most vulnerable point for melee attacks once broken.
  • Aim-at-foe bullets will hit for high damage regardless of where they aim so turret-style bullets can provide guaranteed damage during the various projectile attacks of the False Idol. The general area that they aim for will count as damage to the vitality core, unless shot from the sides in which it will hit the shields. Consider that when targeting parts with non aim-at-foe bullets
  • Ailment Bullets do still add to the ailment stack while shield mode is active so you can take advantage of False Idols naturally low bind resistance to lower it's defence and increase how much damage can be done while shield mode is active. Inflicting Hold will also provide a brief opening as it is technically in attack mode when held.

Assault

  • Can deal high damage in short and safe bursts with X-laser or Chain Blast or continuous attacks from standard rapid bullets.
  • High powered custom bullets can be fired in rapid succession.

Sniper

  • Snipers are guaranteed criticals since all of the False Idol is vulnerable to gunfire so Snipers with the Concentration BCU can take full advantage of it with minimal risk.

Shotgun

  • Has very high damage potential and rush-fire can close distance easily but limited range on it's standard bullets means it's only safe to fire during grounded attacks. Bringing some aim-at-foe custom bullets to attack during the aerial rain can help mitigate this.
  • Has access to the most efficient ailment bullets. Large Bind slugs will bind it the first time in 5 shots.

Raygun

  • Beams will provide very powerful, continuous damage from a distance and radials will provide strong bursts of damage.
  • Take extra care if you are trying to fire a beam during the aerial laser rain since aiming at the False Idol can make seeing the grounded tells harder.
  • Don't be afraid to cancel out of a beam to avoid or block incoming attacks, especially the enraged dash.

Elemental

  • Divine Bullets are the weakness of the False Idol and it's vulnerable across all of it's body parts.

Status Resistances:

Condition Resistance Increase Duration
Venom 325 +140 30 seconds (5.6% of MAX HP)
Hold 350 +180 8 seconds
Bind 220 +125 20 seconds

Enraged Effects

Rage Indicator

  • When enraged, False Idol will automatically switch to attack mode and will be unable to revert to shield mode until it has reverted to normal.
  • The biggest difference is that False Idol's dash will now leave a trail of orbs behind it as it travels. This is shown by the vitality core glowing as it pulls back for the dash attack.

Unbounding Tips:

Shield

  • While shield mode is active, this will most likely be where most of your attacks land. Armour piercing Burst arts as well as inflicting bind will increase the damage dealt and break the shields faster. Once False Idol is in attack mode, focus gunfire on the shields.

Center Head

  • The most vulnerable part of the aragami to melee attacks. While recovering OP for Bullets, focus melee attacks on the head to assist in breaking it and maximizing melee damage. Easiest to hit with aerial attacks.

Vitality Core

  • Only consistently hit-able while False Idol in in attack mode. Focus it down with gunfire
Attacks:

Shield Mode:
  • Slam: Floats back and slams itself into the ground. Both the Body of the False Idol and the shock-wave it produces upon impact can hit you.
  • Snake Sentry: Descends to the ground and summons a small turret as it retreats backwards. This can be done multiple times in succession. Turrets will periodically fire small projectiles at a nearby God Eater. They can be destroyed by inflicting enough damage but they will eventually fade away themselves.
  • Crystal Patches: Lowers itself to the ground and then causes 3 patches of crystals to erupt from the ground below a single target at different intervals. The ground will glow beneath you before they spawn.
  • Orb Spin: spins in place and surround itself with orbs that track nearby players.
  • Shield Spin: A red barrier will form around the False Idol and it will spin towards a target. It will slow to a stop and then the barrier will burst when it's completely still.
  • Shield Blast: Lowers to the ground and begin shaking. Drawing in energy before detonating a red blast around it. Upon the attacks end, the flase Idol will now be in Attack Mode
  • Shield Rings: Only used at Low HP. Lowers itself and it's core will glow red. 3-5 Rings of Oracle Shields will be summoned one after the other. These shields have similar properties to Fallen Havakiri's Oracle Blades. They can be blocked and also destroyed by most attacks and even Deco Bullet Modules.
  • Exit Shield Mode: Non-damaging way of exiting shield mode. Red barrier will shatter and False Idol will switch to attack mode.

Attack Mode:

  • Dash: Pulls back and charges toward a target. Guarding the Idol will cause it to grind to a halt. Will summon orbs that track god eaters close to them when enraged.
  • Aerial Laser Rain: Ascends and shoots lasers from it's core. The pattern is random but you can tell where a laser will land as the ground will glow at it's destination briefly before it's fired. If they hit the ground, they will travel along the ground in a straight line.
  • Grounded Laser Rain: Only used at low HP. False Idol will fire Lasers from a halo on top of it's head. Similar to the aerial laser rain, the lasers will travel along the ground if they hit it and their point of impact is shown via glowing spots on the ground.
  • Lightning Breath: Tilts itself towards a target and breathes lightning at them. A very short-ranged attack.
  • Homing Lasers: Idol fires multiple groups of homing lasers from it's mouth. These long range lasers will track players and hit multiple times if blocked normally.
  • Laser Spread: Wiggles head and fires 5 beams from it's mouth that spread out towards the ground. One of the blasts will always be aimed towards a target if you are in it's range. The damaging part of the projectile travels along the line so keep that in mind if you want to guard it.
  • Shield Burst: Gathers energy around itself, signified by the ground around it glowing, and it will raise it's head before shouting and emitting a shock-wave around it. Afterwards the False Idol will enter shield mode.
  • Enter Shield Mode: Non-damaging way of entering shield mode. It will quickly tuck itself into it's shield and the barrier will appear if it is not broken
Other Useful Tips:
  • You can inflict more frequent (albeit fairly short) downs by shooting it's hat. This can even be done during it's attacks to interrupt them and knock it out of the sky. With specialised Custom bullets, you can even knock it down during it's grounded laser rain from beneath it without needing to break any bonds.
  • While harder to hit, The center head and vitality core are slightly more vulnerable to melee attacks than the shield while False Idol is in shield mode.
  • The shield mode is not immune to ailments, even from bullets.
  • Blocking the dash attack will prevent the False Idol from moving any further, especially useful when activated to minimize the amount of orbs created.
  • Learning the correct timing and distance for dive Perfect Guards will allow you to safely close distance when False Idol uses it's homing lasers as well as create additional devour windows from attacks such as shield modes shield spin.
  • The safest place to be when under attack from the aerial laser rain is right up there with the False Idol. Lock on, jump and dive towards the False Idol and as long as you are decently above the core, you should not risk getting hit by the lasers.
  • The laser spread and homing lasers can not hit you if you are behind the False Idol.
  • For the grounded laser rain, You should try and get right next to the False Idol and attack from there. There will be more than enough time for a charge devour or other slower attacks if you close in quickly. Also, aerial attacks are more risky since the lasers have a higher chance of hitting you while you’re mid-air.
