Changes: Predator Style

Predator Style is a new feature introduced in God Eater Resurrection.

The standard Control Unit feature has been completely removed. In its place, new devour options have been added. In addition to the standard (charge) and combo devours, there are now "quick," "step," and "air" devour devours. Quick Devour is performed with a simple tap of R + Δ (R1 + Δ on PS4) from a neutral or mobile position on the ground, Step Devour is performed by pressing R + Δ (R1 + Δ on PS4) during or at the end of a step (pressing O), and Air Devour is performed by pressing R + Δ (R1 + Δ on PS4) at any point while airborne.

Individual Control Units can be equipped to each of these devour options, each carrying abilities covering various functionality. Examples of these ability types include Attack (攻撃), containing abilities such as those that boost attack power or bullet effectiveness; Defense (防御), containing abilities such as those that boost defensive power or element resistance; Auxiliary (補助), containing abilities such as those that boost Oracle intake or charge speed; and Special (特殊), containing abilities such as those that boost allies' stats.

These abilities can be activated for the duration of the current Burst gauge (either gained through devouring or by devouring during an already-active burst) by executing the corresponding devour option. Executing a Charge devour, for example, will activate the ability tied to the Charge devour option. Which abilities are currently active are denoted by colored bars above the player's Burst gauge: red for Charge, white for Quick, yellow for Combo, green for Step, and blue for Air. However, some abilities are one-time use only (such as those that strengthen the next attack used or provide one-time damage protection) and must be reapplied in order to earn their benefits once again.

Predator Styles are unlocked as you progress through the story. The three groupings are Charge, Quick/Combo/Step, and Air—Predator Styles in the second group apply to all three listed devour types therein.

Charge (Hold Δ on the ground)

Type One/壱式
The first completed Predator Style. Official name: General Purpose Predator Form Type One. Players start having Type One on default Charge Devour.

The Dragon/ミズチ
Uses three sets of jaws to devour over a wide area. Official name: Ultrawide Type Mizuchi. Modifies the Charge devour into a three-pronged variant that has greater horizontal and vertical reach.

Butchery/カーネイジ
A Charge devour that fires off the acquired Aragami Bullet immediately after devouring. Control Units activate before the bullet is fired.

Divine Relish/天ノ咢
A Charge devour in the shape of a massive wolf's mouth. Has an immense charge time but grants an immediate level 3 burst. Deals immense damage when hitting weak spots.

Orca/オルカ
Designates Oracle to heal allies after a devour. Similar to healingg bullets, the healing effect does not extend to the style's user. Official name: Rejuvenating Support Type Orca. Releases a healing cloud of Oracle energy upon devouring.

Bändiger/ベンディガー
Surges forward a large distance once the charge is released and can devour most poes without fear of suffering their attacks. Official name: Driving Surge Type Bändiger. Grants the user superarmor once activated, therefore the charge itself cannot be interrupted by being knocked back or being hit.

Kagachi/カガチ
A revamped version of Mizuchi that enables devouring over a wide area. Lengthens the charge to increase Burst Gauge gain. Official name: Ultrawide Type II Kagachi.

An instantaneous devour possessing minimal post-devour delay, allowing the devour to be canceled into a combo, step, or guard immediately.

Downburst/昇瀑
Devours while leaping vertically skyward before inducing Burst in mid-air. Costs a small amount of stamina to use. This is a modified version of Hawk's Flight that slashes directly upwards instead of up and forwards. Official name: Airborne Surge Type Downburst

Dionaea/ディオネア
Strenghtens devours after blocking an enemy attack. This is the only circumstance under which the Control Unit will activate. Official name: Devour Reactivity Type Dionaea A counterattacking devour that deals greater damage when you devour the instant an Aragamis attack would hit you, in addition to granting invulnerability during the devour animation. Control Units only activate if the counter is successful. If the counter is unsuccessful, you are penalized with no Aragami bullets, no Control Unit activation, and vastly decreased Burst gauge.

Raven/レイヴン
Perform a devour in midair, entering Burst mode while airborne if an enemy is struck. Allows standard follow-up attacks. OFficial name: Flying Assault Type Raven.

Driving Jaw/穿顎
Glide forward while devouring, entering Burst mode upon landing if an enemy is struck. Official name: Gliding Drill Type Driving Jaw Dives forward and downward with the devour form in a manner similar to the Short Blade and Charge Spear's air triangle attack. Covers a large range and pierces through the target Aragami.

Punisher/パニッシャー
Charges briefly before devouring straight downwards. Rebounds back up on contact with foe, allowing for true infinite aerial combos. Deals very high damage.
