Whetstone is part of Story 3 and is the 3rd mission in God Eater 2 Rage Burst This is the first real mission. In this Mission players witness the power of blood in an demostration by Julius Visconti

"You Blood cadets have done well in basic training. Congratulations, but its not over yet. It's time for you to participate in a live-fire training exercise, and I know just the right place. Suit up, and good luck."
After you've cleared this mission the description changes to:
"This is a training mission for new recruits, with the purpose of teaching recruits basic combat maneuvers on a real battlefield. Mock close and range combat courses are included. Reviewing this training is reconmmended before accepting a live mission"

Talk to Fran and she will tell you Dr. Rachel wants to see you in the laboratory. Head to the upper level, talk to Julius then enter the lab on the right. Talk to Rachel for a cutscene. Return to Julius and accept the mission. An cutscene will play at the start and end of the mission.
